Certified in: Phonics First, R.I.S.E. Academy, C.G.I., CPR, and Stop the Bleed
Phonics First: (A reading and spelling system) Is a multisensory, systematic, structured, sequential, phonics-based, direct-instruction approach to teaching beginning, at-risk, struggling, learning disabled, dyslexic and ELL readers. Rooted in the Orton-Gillingham principles of instruction, Phonics First uses scientifically research-based learning strategies to teach students systematic processes for decoding (reading) and encoding (spelling). (Is IMSLEC Accredited MSL program developed by RLAC).
R.I.S.E. Academy: Reading Initiative for Student Excellence. This intensive learning session provides high level training in the knowledge and skills of the science of reading as well as a foundational approach to understanding the research to shift instructional practices. The vast reach of the R.I.S.E. Academy allows teachers to take part in a statewide conversation about the science of reading and the impact necessary to support our students with the skills necessary to learn to read.
CGI: Cognitively Guided Instruction is a student-centered approach to teaching math. It starts with what your students already know and builds on their natural number sense and intuitive approaches to problem solving. Rather than a math program or curriculum, CGI is a way of listening to students, asking smart questions, and engaging with their thinking—all with the goal of uncovering and expanding every student’s mathematical understanding.
Classroom Management Made easy and Effective: This professional development was based off of the text, The Classroom Management Book. This text is a solutions book that shows how to organize and structure a classroom to create a safe and positive environment for student learning and achievement to take place. It offers 50 procedures that can be applied, changed, adapted, and incorporated into any classroom management plan. Each procedure is presented with a consistent format that breaks it down and tells how to teach it and what the outcome of teaching it will be.
Google: Certified Google trainers provided an in depth training on anything and everything Google.

Happily married since June 2018!
My husband proposed to me when we were abroad in the Czech Republic. I was just finishing my 6th week of student teaching in Scotland and he was beginning his 5 week mission trip teaching English in the Czech Republic. Before I flew back to the US, I found a flight and a day that we were able to meet in the Czech Republic. We were able to spend the day together, and before I went back to the airport, he popped the question!!
We waited to get married after we both graduated from college. With the way our birthday’s fall, I graduated a year ahead of him. We finally got married at Harding University, where I went to college, on June 9, 2018!
